This may have been asked before but does anyone know the English names for Iyetankawin and Husasa. They are the parents of Anna Flute, Marry Wipple Hillers and Sarah Jones.
It looks like Iyetankawin died 1897 and Husasa died 1892.
Thanks for your help.

Husasa was named Thomas Whipple by the Bishop Whipple. Now I have no documentation on that for sure, but this is what I was told. But all the documentation I have lists him only as Husasa. Husasa has a son named Thomas Whipple that is on the 89 census. So that may explain why his son is named Thomas Whipple. But I am not 100% sure about that one yet. I am not clear on a lot of the Whipple family as Thomas and his brother Benjamin are both listed as being 56 in the 1902 Santee Family Registry, were they twins? I am not sure, but would like to know. My family is tied in with so many other families and I just cant seem to piece things together. Just when I think I have an idea on how things go something else pops up and I am lost again. Later, Sandy

Sandy, I think I read it in Little Crow, Spokesman for the Sioux stating that Husasa was Thomas son of Tasagye

Yes, Husasa did take the Whippple name, it's been awhile since I did research on him. I believe he took the Whipple name out of respect for his friend the Rev. Whipple. I have to dig up the Whipple file. Sara

I don't know who Husasa was married to when Ben was born. I think he was married a few times. Ben was married to Margaret Hoffman and they had Sam. Sam was married to Josephine Rock when they had Ben (Sr). After her death he married her sister Mary Rock. Ben(Sr) married Lillian Larvie and had Ben Jr. Ben Jr married Arlene Anderson and had me....lol

I too am a descendant of Hushasha. He was married to Sarah Kaptewin Whipple. They had a son Garwin Whipple in 1854. Does anyone know when Hushasha was born or where?

I am not sure if Anna was his second wife. I do not have much infomration on them. I have her daughters as Mary Oldman Lawrence and Lizzie Flute Redwing. Lizzie is an adopted daughter, her mother is really Mary but Anna raised her. At the SF geneology center there are a number of Flutes listed but I did not copy them. I only made a copy of Anna's family at the time and it just lists Anna Flute age 60 grandmother and Lizzie age 11 as one of the families. I will look through more of my notes to see if I wrote some information down.

I went back through my notes and Joseph was Anna's second husband but I do not know if she was his second wife. Her first husband was Husasa and they had a daughter Mary Lawrence. Mary's first husband was Ben Westerman, child Lizzie Flute, 2nd John Oldman and they had 4 children, 3rd Joshua Johnson and 4th was a Lawrence.
It says that Anna and Joseph lived in Flandreau until Joseph died. This is from a statement of Mary Lawrence dated 1912. Then I beleive Anna went back to Santee.
Hope this helps.

I have some Whipple cousins also! My grandmother's sister married Christian Whipple. I don't know any Rosebud Whipples, but I'd like to identify as many kinfolks as possible.
